The views were spectacular of Lake Superior.
I stopped at the Hungry Moose for a second breakfast. They not only had great food but WiFi. Nice to do some catching up on emails. www.hungrymoose.ca
Apparently the cell service in this area is run by TBTel. It sounds like nobody passing through here until Sault Ste. Marie can get service.
I stopped in Terrace Bay at the Tourist Info. Centre and got not only water but a nice list of campsites from here to Sudbury. Even though I'm not going that direction.
There were some very steep hills to climb today.
I had a good laugh as I was approaching one hill that looked immense. In my mind I was thinking this was as bad as that scene in Lord Of The Rings when Gandalf is fighting the Balrog. You know this is something bad. Just like this hill. But, liike my father-in-law used to quote from a movie in the 40's "hey you better cheer up. Things could be worse. So I cheered up and things did get worse". This hill was just like that. Not only was it very steep but it had been prepared for repaving by scoring the surface so riding it was incredibly bumpy. And uphill.
There were also other areas that were under construction and all dusty gravel. Sometimes I feel like I'm in cyclocross.
I met a guy from Toronto doing this ride. Keiron has a blog at www.followmybike.ca We might meet up gain down the road as he went ahead so that he could have a rest day at a Provincial Park.
I've seen quite a few cyclists today. Five heading West. Three heading East. Two of which are sharing a site with me tonight. Holly and Michael from North Vancouver. It's nice to have company.
The Penn Lake Campground in Marathon is one of the best.
Anyway I better get this posted and off to bed.
