I just felt like it.
Although I paid for that change in direction today. It seems like whenever I head South I head into the wind so my intended distance is reduced. Today I didn't get to my destination. Oh well. Maybe tomorrow. The winds are supposed to be changing direction and coming from the North. That would help.
I was riding on Hwy 144 out of Saint-Jacques until it disappeared in Edmunston. It wasn't a bad ride. So I got on the TCH (Hwy 2) and rode that. It wasn't bad either, despite the wind in my face and the noisy trucks. But bicycles are not allowed on the TCH as I found out from the RCMP constable who pulled me over. So I had to find the 144 again and rode on it until it ends at Grand Falls, where I took a picture of some grand falls.
Now I'm on the 130 and it looks like I can stay on it until I get to Hartland where I then get on to the 105 and ride to Fredericton.
I kind of miss the Prairies with it's one choice of road to take.
On the other side of the Saint John River, which I could see while riding along the 144, is the state of Maine and it's farmlands.
In Grand Falls I was thirsty and needed to use a bathroom so I went to the A&W and I thought maybe I should also get something to eat even though I wasn't hungry. Keep myself topped up. That was a mistake. The burger made me sick. About an hour later I really had to get to a bathroom quickly. Luckily, and this is the best part of the day, I saw a sign for a campground which was only 2 km away. I got there as quick as possible using the bathroom before checking in. That was close. Although this evening I feel a bit shaky.
Okay. More so than usual after a day of riding.
There I was yesterday all rested up and thinking I could get to Woodstock some 140 km or so away only to be slowed down today by those Southerly winds, the police and a bad burger.
