Day 8 Greenwood to Christina Lake. 69 km

Today was a bit of a rest day. I got to the Deadwood Junction Cafe in Greenwood just when it opened at 8. Great cinnamon buns, like everyone from Nelson told me, and great people running it too. I always appreciate good customer service. I sat in their over an hour updating this blog from the day before.
Got to Grand Forks around noon and hung out at the visitor centre for a while then got going again to Christina Lake. Before getting to the resort I'm now at I picked up some groceries for tonight's dinner and tomorrow's ride.
For you cyclists out there who plan on riding on Hwy. 3. Be sure to stay at Schuul's Resort in Christina Lake. You get a grassy lakeside site for $8. The owner figures cyclists deserve the break.
Tomorrow I'll be climbing the Blueberry-Paulson Summit, might also be called Bonanza, which is very steep and. Could take a while. I'm planning on camping at Nancy Greene Prov. Park, Nancy Greene is a gold medalist in downhill skiing, where I most likely won't be able to recieve cell service so there will probably no blog update tomorrow and most likely not the next day as I will be in Nelson, yeah a rest day, visiting friends. So you'll just have to find something else to do before I continue this and continue the ride.
I know looking at another campsite I'm staying at maybe becoming a bit much but this one deserves a photo.
Besides that I didn't take any other photos.

At the rest stop at Eholt Summit I could of lost my bike. Well maybe just the food if I hadn't locked it up tight. This chipmunk has gotten used to humans stopping here.

Day 7 Osoyoos to Greenwood 82 km

I woke this morning to the sound of cannon fire at sunrise. Besides Osoyoos being a tourist mecca it's an agricultural area. Where I was camped there are orchards. Probably apple, peach, plum and other tree fruits. The cannon fire is powered by propane and the noise is meant to scare away the birds which will eat the fruit and wake up the tourists.
I had breakfast with Mac. Mac if from Florida and is circumnavigating the US by motorcycle. From Florida he rode to San Diego north to Seattle and now east to Maine and then back home. This is a picture of him and his mascot, also named Mac, who his takes with him like the Travelocity gnome.
I got on the road at almost 9 and was just getting into the climb out of Osoyoos when a car slowly pulled up beside me and a voice asked if I wanted a drink of water. It turned out to be good friends from Nelson and former neighbours Thom and Sharyn who when they saw me turned around from their drive to Vancouver. What a great surprise that was and a welcome break on the side of the highway.
One of the other photos I've included is the sign for Midway. Midway actually is midway across the province of B.C.
I camped the night at a park just west of Greenwood, without cell phone reception. The rain, my first, started at about 7 but let up in the night. But it was very cold this morning with low clouds. But right now as I'm sitting in the Deadwood Cafe in Greenwood having a cinnamon bun and latté the sun is starting to poke out. The owners here say the weather is supposed to be improving over the next few days.
Sounds good to me.
Time to get back on the road it's after 9
