Rocks and trees. Trees and rocks.
It's getting hot again. Back to the temperatures I was experiencing as I got to Steinbach. There was a wind. Sounds good for keeping cool but a lot of the time it was a headwind. These winds are different than the Prairie winds which are constant. Here the wind changes. It gusts right at you and then changes direection. Part of this is due to the fact that the road isn't straight. It twists and turns. The shoulders were there most of the time in various types of degradation. Sometimes not at all. The traffic was heavy at times too with people out for the holiday.
I got to Nipigon, actually I'm a few kilometres East, around 3. I thought it would be good to quit then as it's a long weekend and it looks like the sites are filling up. I didn't want to take the chance of missing out and riding for another 80 km or so to find a campground.
Tomorrow morning I have to go into Nipigon to get groceries. That's what this whole ride across Canada is. Ride your bike. Shop for food. Eat the food. Sleep. And do it all over again.
Today I stopped in Dorian and to marvel at the 30' statue they have there depicting an Ojibway myth.
